How To Become A Son of God

How To Become A Son Of God

John 1:12 KJV 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

There is no secret formula to become a son of God.  All you have to do is confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you shall be saved. Rom 10:9-10 KJV 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  This is the only requirement to being born into the family of God as His son, His child, His new born baby in the spirit.  How to become a mature son of God, a son of wisdom, of hope for all things, a son of His character is another position of honor because it is not enough for God that we be newborn son’s but that we be sons that He can release His glory and His power to us in a great abundance.

If we were to compare this concept in the natural we would all realize that no parent wants their newborn son or daughter to stay at that stage and never develop any further, if fact it is not normal for a child not to grow toward adulthood from the moment it is born.  They must learn from new things from each stage of their development to add to what they already know and to assist them in current and future growth stages.

Being a son of God is a very special position.  Can you imagine a God who knows all things, all powerful, everywhere all of the time? God who created everything that is, that was and ever shall be creating us and then giving us the opportunity to do all that He does.

Becoming a mature son begins with us feeding on the sincere milk of the word which are the basic foundation things that lay the foundation for the additions that will come after being born again.  These are necessary for us to grow and become mature sons.

There are four functional things that we have to do if we are to become a son of God and they are found in John 1:12:

1.   We must one of the many that receive Him
2.   We must receive His Power
3.   We must go through the process to become
4.   We must call on His name

God wanted children and therefore He wanted His son to get married.  Christ His son came to the earth in the body of Jesus of Nazareth and we know Him as Jesus Christ.  But who can be the bride for Christ, His only begotten Son?  Those that will come to Him and allow Him to prepare them for His son to marry, they then become the bride of Christ.  In addition, as many that believe on Jesus Christ that are led by the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) they are the sons of God. Rom 8:14 KJV 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

How did this happen.  Mary the mother of Jesus was impregnated by the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) with a son, this then is the seed of God and becomes the part that is not corrupted but can function as you and I up to and including the time of His death, burial and resurrection.  God has predestined us to be His children by adoption and this process of adoption would change our blood line.

We no longer are the sons of the sin nature of the first Adam but are now the product of the sinless Adam.  As a result we become sons of God and are also positioned as the bride of Jesus Christ. We see that in Rom 8:15-19 KJV 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Since God has predestined us to be adopted as His sons we can be assured that we have only to say yes since we had nothing to with God’s choice in the matter. However we do have to be freed from sin and made blameless before Him, we have to be like Him in order to be His sons.

We know from our personal experiences that we cannot be blameless before Him without help and God knew that as well, therefore He prepared the wherewithal and the way for that to happen. As God’s sons we must be holy and blameless and we must be forgiven of sin which we have perpetuated down through the generations through the first Adam.

God prepared and executed a redemption plan that made all that He had in His mind for us possible.  We have an inheritance through Jesus Christ and we have changed our blood line in the spirit for the Adam that sinned to the Adam (Jesus Christ) that did not sin. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin and He bought us back in right standing with God, the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  We are now the sons of God and we can come boldly to His throne of grace, why? Because we are already there, at the throne of God seated with God through and by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus Christ, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the throne of God and we that are His are there with him. We see where Jesus is seated in heaven in Heb 1:3 KJV 3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Now we see that we are with in Eph 1:3-14 KJV 3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Being a son of God means that you grow to a place of maturity that allows God to use you to take care of His business and God business is to manage the earth and destroy the works of the Devil.  There is also a responsibility to God to be in relationship with Him that is appropriate for a son with his father.  Being a son of God is not a masculine word.  There is no gender to being a son of God; therefore females also have the responsibility to uphold their part of the sonship to our Father God Jehovah.

God’s desire for His children to mature and do the work of an adult saint of God is no different from the desire of our natural parents to see us be the best we can be and to be a responsible adult not needing for someone else to take care of us because we cannot do it for ourselves.  God has equipped His children to take care of themselves as adult Christians and to be able to take care of others who cannot yet take care of themselves.

We can understand this better when we realize that as adults in the natural we are expected to have to skills to maintain employment, be a successful entrepreneur, be a competent business manager, be able to lead a corporation into financial abundance etc., yet when it comes to God’s business we tend to think that someone else should do it, or we are not competent and that is true if we are still an immature Christian.

As an adult son of God we are expected to:

1.   Win every battle we have with the Devil because he is already defeated.
2.   We are expected to overcome every situation that exalts itself above the word of God.
3.   We expected to overcome challenges of sickness that attacks our body, overcome any life challenges and be victorious in everything including our finances.
4.    All of this is to be accomplished by submitting to the ministry of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is here with us to help us do what God has called us to do.

We are anointed to do certain things and all we have to do is understand what God has anointed us to do and do that.  One example of what God has anointed us to do is what Jesus Christ did; Jesus even said what that entailed in Luke 4:18. But it is also mentioned in Isa 61:1-11.  Let us take a closer look and is mentioned in Isaiah 61.

Isa 61:1-11 KJV 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to:
1.   Preach good tidings unto the meek;
2.   He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
3.   To proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;
4.   To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God;
5.   To comfort all that mourn;
6.   To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them:
a.    beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning,
b.   the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien [shall be] your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: [men] shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. 7 For your shame [ye shall have] double; and [for] confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them. 8 For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. 9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] the seed [which] the LORD hath blessed. 10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels. 11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

One of the challenges that the sons of God are confronted with is sadness because of the process of growing up in God, but God has fixed that for every one of them.  All they have to do is love righteousness and hate evil. This will cause them to receive the oil of Joy and set them above their fellows.  Psa 45:7 KJV 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Heb 1:9 KJV 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
